26.08.09 OUR BACKROOM HAS RE-OPENED!!
Thanks to All YOUR support. and I do mean YOU, the customers & friends of the cafe have helped to change the Council's decision of closing our backroom for good!
With more than 2,000 signatures on both our online and physical petition, the councils decision was swayed to take note of how many people consider our backroom to be an invaluable part of East London.
So, on behalf of all the staff of Cafe 1001, I would just like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all of you who have stood by us and supported us through the summer. Major Props!!

12.08.09 STOP LOCAL COUNCIL FROM SHUTTING DOWN OUR BACKROOM!
On Thursday 30th July, the Tower Hamlets council were called to Cafe 1001 for a noise complaint and subsequently did a sound check on Brick Lane to see if the noise levels were too high. Unluckily for Cafe1001, there happened to be a huge photography show (Rankin) opening upstairs as well as a random live band playing on the street.
Unfortunately, the Local Council assumed ALL noise was caused by the Cafe and imposed a ban for a minimum of 28 days during August, with a likelihood of keeping our backroom closed for as long as possible. Please do not let this become a reality!
We implore you to support us and sign either petitions (the physical petition, found in the cafe itself or the online version). DO NOT let the council rob you of your local creative hub!

30.05.09 NO LATE NIGHT PARTY! Unfortunately, there will not be a late night party this month. The council have refused our license for this month on the grounds of 'Planning'!!
We are so disappointed! Everyone wants to party, but the council wont let us...
we are currently appealing, but I dont think we are going to be able to do one this month!
