Indie Underground Presents

Back Room

Strange Cages will be headlining WERKHAUS for their album tour, and we cannot wait to have them play for us on September 27th

Raw vibrant rock’n’roll slaps you round the face multiple times with Strange Cages. Live, they have a sleazy deranged kick, full of raw emotion. They embody the genuine meaning of punk, and the rough angst they have live really is blinding. Vocally, their music is full of a genuine raw grunge edge, which paired with the amped up distortions and fuzzy guitar riffs give the band a whole extra layer of unique, bold and aggressive power

Support comes from fuzzy psych rock three piece The Howlers, Brighton masters of garage psychedelia GURU, and vivacious rock'n'rollers Scary Lemons

Disco Marky will be playing a DJ set of the best indie and punk tunes in the back room, in between bands and until late

This is an 18+ event, so please bring valid ID with you. We will have a range of speciality Brick Lane IPAs and Beers available all night, with a DJ out in the front room until late, so we hope to see you then!

Smile End Music Presents

Back Room

Smile End are proud to present our first FREE London club night at Brick Lane's Werkhaus, situated opposite Rough Trade East.

Headlining the line-up are Glossii, who have been cited as 'South Londoners single-handedly making the Tudors punk' (NME) & 'raw, gritty, punk-infused indie-rock that barely lets up in energy' (DIY mag). They're quickly making a name for themselves and are set to smash the scene to pieces in spectacular fashion in the months to come!

You can watch Glossii's video for Rockaway Runaway here

Main support comes from The Rills, a band who caught Smile End's attention during the zines' early days at Queen Mary's University through their energetic live shows. The Rills, having supported King Nun back in May, are best described as raucous indie with a hint of crude post-punk.

You can watch their track 'Latest Trends' here

The bangers don't end there; we're also joined by The Green Brothers, who are fresh off the back of their appearence at Y Not Festival this summer. The Green Brothers are a 3-piece known for their brit-pop approach to 90's/00's inspired indie rock. And last, but by no means least we also welcome Southampton experimental punk band, Web, who have amassed gigs on the south coast supporting the likes of GayGirl, Sleep Eaters & The Wants.
You can listen to The Green Brothers track 'Something To Lose' here

You can also listen to Web's track 'Nicotine' here

A sharp, intimidating carousel of witty raw rock, Phobophobes are a kaleidoscope of apocalyptic post punk, their sound authentically punk with a fuzzy, fresh charisma drowned in it.
