Cafe 1001 is pleased to welcome audiophile DJ Don Grizz for a weekly Friday residency throughout February. Whether its his genre bending sets as part of the residents at Spiritland, hosting his monthly show Big Smoke Selector on Music Box Radio UK, or gracing the decks in places anywhere between Tottenham, Dalston, Hackney, Shoreditch and Brixton you can expect to be taken on a musical journey from global grooves, reggae, funk, soul, balearic to hip hop, disco, house and much more. Don will invite some of his favourite selectors to join him, with details on these to be announced sooner to the dates. Expect to have your musical cosmos expanded!
On the 14th March, we welcome one half of Secretsundaze, James Priestley, to the Café.
Having helmed Secretsundaze with friend Giles Smith since 2002, the acclaimed label, studio, and event series has been the talk of London town ever since, with its wide and colourful music policy. As a DJ himself, James can weave throughout most genres with ease, creating a killer groove through his sets.
Let’s see what he has in store for us!
For a Record Store Day special, we have Manchester DJ Hidden Spheres gracing the newly refurbished and re-branded Cafe1001, on 18th April.
Having been released on a plethora of acclaimed labels such as London based Rhythm Section, Distant Hawaii, and Church; Hidden Spheres has also curated his own compositions on Fruit Merchant. His music is full of deep, broken house-fuelled melodies; flowing from house, disco, jazz and Balearic, his DJ sets reflect on this, packed with warm uplifting selections and deep grooves.
He plays for three hours on Record Store Day, all for free!
